She danced in a classical ballet company for several years but her original love of photography won out and she abandoned the stage and started freelancing in photography.

She worked for almost all the 'name' ad agencies in South Africa and formally studied marketing and art history at the same time as establishing her studio. Altough she won awards and enjoyed a stable creative life, she felt the need to "repot" herself creatively.
